Free Printable Christmas I Spy

This free find and color printable Christmas I spy is a great Christmas activity sheet to keep the kids busy during the holiday break.

I Spy is a classic kids game, and this Christmas activity sheet turns it into a fun printable activity. And the printable version is a lot quieter than the classic verbal game, which makes it a perfect festive game for kids to sit down with when they (or you!) need a nice calm activity in the middle of all the Christmas chaos!

It’s just the thing for festive holiday parties at home or in the classroom, or even over Zoom!

I’ve designed this ispy Chritsmas printable so that it prints in black and white, which means that it doubles as a coloring sheet as well!

Get your kids to color in the pictures in as they count for a really fun 2 in 1 activity. And you know what that means for you… twice as much time to put your feet up with a cup of coffee and enjoy some Christmas cookies. Bliss!

I’ve also included a quick reference answer sheet with the download, so if your kids want to know that they’ve found everything you can check it for them with just a glance.

How to play Christmas i Spy

Playing Christmas I Spy is so simple. All kids need to do is count how many of each picture they can see and write the total in the box at the bottom.

There are 10 different Christmas characters and objects to find:

  • Santa Claus
  • Rudolph/Reindeers
  • Candy Canes
  • Presents
  • Baubles
  • Snowflakes
  • Snowmen
  • Christmas Trees
  • Holly
  • Gingerbread Men

They don’t have to color the pictures in, but it adds an extra level of fun to the game. Coloring in is also a really beneficial activity for kids. It can help them to develop fine motor development, improves concentration and focus, encourages color awareness, stimulates creative thinking and can improve hand and eye coordination.

I’d suggest that kids color the pictures in as they count to help keep track of the items. This also helps to reduce the chance of things getting counted twice!

You could even turn this into a bit of a competition, seeing who can color and count the fastest. There could be prizes for fastest counter and best coloring in!

This activity is also easy to adapt for different age groups.

Older kids will be able to color and count on their own.

But for younger kids, this could be a fun interactive activity that you can do along with them.

For very young children, you could get them to point out each picture and color it in for them, and then help them to count them all up and write the answer down.

Slightly older kids might prefer to color the pictures in themselves, but might still need you to help them count everything up.

It’s a lot of fun, and is a great screen free activity to keep the kids busy this Christmas!

How to get your free Christmas I-Spy printable

  1. Click on the download link below.
  2. Unzip the file to your hard drive.
  3. Print out as many copies of your Christmas I-spy activity as you need!

The activity sheet and answer sheet are PDFs in a zipped file. They’re both sized for US Letter paper / 8.5 x 11 inches but you could print it on A4 paper just as easily. If you do need to print on A4 then you might need to adjust your printer settings slightly so that your printer doesn’t crop the edges of the page.

For the best results I’d recommend printing on high quality printer paper.

You could also fit 2 of the I-spy activities on one page to save on paper and use a paper trimmer (this one is great) to cut each one down to size.
